We continue this month's celebrations with products inspired by artwork from Monte, age 47. Monte was diagnosed with Skin Melanoma at age 11, when a local dermatologist confirmed the finding and promptly removed the cancerous mole. Monte later received
specialized medical care at MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital where he underwent several years of treatment to ensure that any pre-melanoma spots remained non-active.

During his stay at MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital, Monte had the opportunity to participate in the Children's Art Project, which allowed him to explore his creativity. Monte's artistic inclinations date
back to his childhood where he would often engage in painting or writing, never experiencing a dull moment. While admitted to the hospital, Monte expressed his affinity for drawing and art on the patient form, which led him to participate in art classes offered there and continue his creative endeavors at home. His passion for art led him to study art in college, and he occasionally indulges in drawing today.

Currently, Monte is employed at Hallmark where he is a merchandiser responsible for assembling displays, and he occasionally engages in freelance work and projects for indivduals. Monte's interests include music, movies and pop culture, which he avidly explores by attending concerts. Some of the notable artists he has seen include Prince, Janet Jackson and Madonna, among others. Interestingly, Monte's artistic talent was recognized during the commemoration of President George H. W. Bush's 75th birthday, where the Bush family handpicked art creations crafted by pediatric patients at MD Anderson. Amongst the chosen pieces for the event's invitation was a Texas-inspired cake adorned with artwork by participants of the Children's Art Project (CAP). Monte's boot mantle design and signature were chosen from numerous submissions to be included in the invitation. Monte's artwork has also been featured in corporate settings such as Exxon and Enron, and he was the first artist to have his designs featured on t-shirts and tote bags with CAP. In recent years, one of his designs was even used for a Radko ornament. With a desire to continue crafting art and engaging in freelance work for a diverse range of clients, Monte is dedicated to expanding his artistic repertoire with special projects and endeavors.
